MelMark Holiday Event

Springfield Country Club, is very nice. it has a very soothing and intimate decor. It's like walking into a warm room when coming out of the cold. The food was excellent.

What a wonderful evening! I wanted to first capture the theme of the event so we started with holiday music. For dinner, we shared some memorable tunes from the 50s and 60s.

There was a raffle throughout the night, with some great prizes, A DVD Player, Refrigerator, an LCD TV and many more. During dinner, we celebrated employees with 5, 10, 20 and 30 years of service, then gave a standing ovation for the Employee Of The Year.

We started the dancing with R. Kelly's Step In The Name Of Love, then transitioned to some West Africian music called Lingala. We slowed it down with a little Sinatra, Al Green, and Van Morrison. We had lots of requests for more Lingala, as well as some Motown, and of course, some Hip Hop, So we started with Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees, and ended with Ms. Officer by Lil Wayne, and a whole lot of dancing in between.

It was after 11pm and guests were still dancing and asking for requests. I just wish I had more time to play them.

The song in the video is called Tsoang Tsoang by Dr. Victor

Thank You Mel Mark for such a great event. Happy Holidays, God Bless.

Horizon House Holiday Event

There are a few events that I look forward to each year; The Horizon House Holiday Event is one of them.

Why? Well quite simply, it's the people! No formalities or speeches; just a great staff, excited guests, good food, a lot of gifts, great music, and dancing... lots of dancing.

Held at the Elks Lodge in Wilmington, De., where the service and accomodations are always gracious and nice; the day began, with some light holiday music. However, we quickly jumped right into the party! The event started at 12 noon, and the dance floor was packed at 12:15.

We played some old school R&B, like Candy Rain by Soul For Real, Love Crazy by Atlantic Star; some Old School Rap, and a little Motown for our boppers. I played a few suprises like, Let's Do It Again, by the Staple Singers, and Mr. Big Stuff, by Jean Knight. I couldn't leave without playing some current day Hip Hop hits of course, Beyonce's Single Ladies and Lil' Wayne's Ms. Officer were very popular.

The songs in the above video are, Christmas Rappin' by Kurtis Blow and This Christmas by Donny Hathaway.

I had a great time, I'm so thankful that they enjoyed it too!

Mr. Edward's Surprise 80th Birthday

The children of Mr. Miles Edward's, surprised their dad with a celebration befitting a king in honor of his 80th birthday.

The theme was "One Night With The King." The decor was very nice, I especially liked that the placemats was a copy of Mr. Edward's birth certificate. It was a nice touch to personalize the event.

The Birthday boy's arrivial was greeted by all standing, and to the music of Fred Hammond's "King Of Glory". Other songs included were"One Night" by After 7, and "If Only For One Night" by Luther Vandross. to compliment the evening.

Family and friends gave outstanding laudatory remarks, however, the highlight had to be the Dancers. Mr. Edwards was celebrated in dance by two outstanding performers. One young lady danced to "Bless Me (Pray of Jabez)" by Donald Lawrence and the Tri City Singers; and there was a surprise belly dancer. Both were awesome!

After dinner, the line dancing began. However, my favorite part was watching everybody bop and step dance to those classic Motown hits.

The night ended with guests in a circle, singing "Happy Feelings" by Frankie Beverly and Maze.

Thank you Edwards' family for allowing me to share and celebrate with your dad on his very special day.

God Bless.
